Bus Stamp Theory

When I was young, schools were not walking distance.

As such, I have the luxury of getting my Dad to buy me bus stamps when I need it. Its cheaper that way.

I will buy bus stamps every schooling month. Exceptions came during months of March and September, when there will be a 1 week break.
No school = Possibility of not going out = Possibility of "lugi" the value of the bus stamp.
I thus started my first cost-benefit analysis (w/o even realising it) in primary school, calculating if its worth "investing" in a bus stamp.

For those occassions when I pay out the money (Dad's money) to buy during these 2 special months, I will keep track of the number of bus trips that I take to see if my bus expenditure >= bus stamp price. Along the way, I will do a reality check to make sure that by month's end, I will have make a "profit".

So what happens when I realised I was behind target?
I will deliberately take bus rides just to make sure that I don't "lose", even if it means that the bus rides were kinda meaningless. Eg. Take a bus to the then Jurong Interchange (at Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim), walk around the interchange for 10 mins, and take another bus back.

As time go by, I grow to realise the Bus Stamp Theory.

Do not use something unneccessary, just because you have already paid for it.
As long as you made your evaluation BEFORE you make the purchase, live with it.
Don't let it bring inconveniences to your life.

How to apply this Bus Stamp Theory?

(1) Like most ladies, Wifey has a small appetite, and always end up with unfinished food.
Like most loving hubbies, I will help her to finish her portion, even if I already had my fill.
So Wifey ended up eating 0.5 portion, and me eating 1.5 portions. My tummy develops just because it is sinful to waste food.
I used to be skinny. =(
So?
Not finishing your food > Overeating. Either way, you have already paid for the food.

(2) Wifey bought SK2 some time ago when we could still afford it. But the yeast starts turning smelly. She was hesitating abt applying "smelly water" to her face, but at the same time find it wasteful to throw 1/2 a bottle of money away.
So?
Throwing it away > Applying an unknown to the face. Either way, you have already paid for SK2.

There is no Undo button in life.

I'm not encouraging wasting stuffs here.
What I'm promoting is doing your sums right BEFORE you make a purchase.
if you have done it already, don't regret.
Calculated risk > risk.

Have a great day ahead, guys! ^_^

(A shoutout to my buddy Chian#7: I have read your comment. Awaiting more stories on BBCs. ^_^)
