Live too short, Die too long

Our live is short, and yet most of our remaining years are spent in pain.

1/4 of all Singaporeans suffer from some form of degenerative illnesses, according to a Ministry of Health brochure.

It never cease to amaze me why people just don't understand that prevention is cheaper than cure. They are pound foolish when it comes to their fancy cars, hobbies and lifestyle, and penny wise (aka stingy) when it comes to routine checkups and supplements.

They have the time to go fishing and watch TV, but never found the time to go for checkups.

They buy insurance to protect their family AFTER they are dead, but never bother to protect themselves and family when they are alive. Taking the family out for junk food on a regular basis is like feeding them small dosages of poison.

We live by the day.
I'm sure alot of us have heard our friends saying things like "Just eat what you like. You won't know what will happen tomorrow".

The truth is:
What you eat today is what you are tomorrow.

Yes, we are great at earning money, experts in our own speciality, but most of us suck at staying healthy.
Diabetes, Stroke, Heart Diseases, Cancer, Athiritis, Parkinson's.
I'm sure there's someone around you who have such diseases.

My Dad has a family history of Diabetes. I make it a point to go for regular checkups, and read up on how to prevent it.

So what are you doing to prevent it?
Do you even know how to prevent it?

First class society, third class health.

My beloved Ahma has been groaning for past few days. She can't stand for long as her bones are weak. Her joints are painful.

And I watch her degenerate day after day. =(
But at least she has been fairly healthy for the first 80+ years of her life.

You can exercise the whole day and be a boxing champion like Mohammad Ali.

And still get Parkinson's.

Watch what goes in your mouth, my friends.
It's more dangerous than all the other factors (smoke, stress etc...) that cause degnerative diseases.

If you are healthy today, I congratulate you.
Now hope you stay this way always.

Have a healthy year ahead, and many years to come.
