Few months before the actual run:
One of the more senior colleagues in my office once told me that every man should try the marathon once in his life. But I never thought much about what he said, because I've never been much of a runner. I didn't think I could do it.
And then my favourite blogger, Kenny Sia did it. A full marathon. I was impressed, and decided to give it a try, just to surpass myself.
And double up as a wedding gift for Wifey.
So I signed up for the half maracthon, and then started running once a week. Doing 2.4km for someone who haven't run since donkey years was tough. But its still something I had to do, I gotta start preparing from somewhere.
But things got busier, and I stopped running 3 months before the actual day.
One week before the actual run:
I realised that the 21 km run is drawing close, but I haven't even done any REAL practise. No way was I gonna back out, so I started jogging for the first time in my life, long distance. 1 hour to be exact. I ended up aching for next few days.
Wifey's supporting me by letting me use her mp3 player for the day.
And she bought me a pair of new running shoes, as an advanced birthday present.
One day before the actual run:
I had to attend Mich's 21st birthday party at night, and was worried that I shouldn't be eating much the night before the run. Left early, as I had to get an early rest.
I had trouble sleeping.
Wasn't exactly sure if I could complete the whole 21 km.
[To be continued]
