The "New" Sentosa

Mother-in-law was telling me that she caught my beloved Ahma (mum's mother) shedding tears of joy when my Wife and I signed the marriage papers at ROM. It then occured to me that among all her grandchildren, I was the first, and oldest male grandchild to get married.

I don't have much to blog about our wedding, but will like to give a special mention to my cameraman, who helped chatted to my parents during our reception - dim sums at Tea House. His presence helped to break the ice between my parents and hers, who have not met prior to this. Thanks!

After the dim sums, we were off to Sentosa, somewhere I haven't been since 4 years ago, for our little mini honeymoon.

Like to blog about my verdict for some of their attractions.

(1) Costa Sands (Great) - Not exactly an attraction, but its probably the cheapest accomodation that you can find in Sentosa. About $20+ per night (with NTUC link card) if you get their basic hut with double decker bed + sliding 3rd bed. That makes it $8 per head per night for the roomk of 3. The hut's also has an air-con. The resort are equipped with a common swimming pool, some cheesy arcade machines, and 2 common Internet computers, which no one uses. Ya!!

(2) Underwater World (Nah) - $19.50 per head is just a little too much for a non first-timer.

Ticket includes a free pass to Dolphin Lagoon. Sorry, but I'm not tempted. Somebody save the poor pink dolphins from captivity. =(

(3) 4D Magix (Bad) - $16 per head. The show lasted about 15-20 minutes and were a little too kiddy for matured people like me. The 4th dimension comes from special effects such as wind, chair rocks, light water sprays which occur in the midst of the movie. I'm amused how the girls sitting beside us actually got scared by the show. I'm growing too old for my own good. =(

(4) Musical Fountain (Good) - Free. Kiddy, yes. But this is still a favourite for me, at least if u have not seen it for 4 years. The show looks almost the same as the one we saw 4 years ago. Or was it the same? Nonetheless, do come early if u want to watch this show. The crowd is plentiful, for a weekday & non-school holiday.

(5) Carlsberg Skytower (Neutral) - $10 per head. Before the ride, we were told to pose for photos, behind a landscape photo of Sentosa. They later try to sell us for $10-$15 (forgot the price). No, that piece of paper is a little expensive. The ride is short, probably about 10-15 minutes, no big deal. The view at the top was good, but no big deal for a local who is familiar with whats around Sentosa.

(6) Palawan Beach (Good) - The only place in Sentosa to find a 7-Eleven. Beach cannot be compared to those white sandy ones in Malaysia, but its still a good place to gop tanning. Singapore is the land of few litters. While you are there, do visit, the Southernmost Point of Continental Asia for scenic photos.
Also, this is the only place with a foodcourt, if you don't want to pay exorbitant prices at restaurants or consume evil carcinogic free radicals at Burger King.

(6) Sentosa Luge (Great)
We got the Sentosa Luge + Skyride bundle for $8.
The Luge is just a vehicle without wheels that goes down the slope.

You can control the speed, the direction and the brakes. The journey was a little short, but it was great fun. I have to concentrate on the front while making funny faces to Wife. I wanna come back again!

(7) Skyride (Great)

The Luge brings me down, and the Skyride brings me up.
I have a fear of heights, dangling your feets in high altitude makes things worse. Wife had great fun teasing me of my fear. Time to send her for a "God created woman to serve man" brainwash course.
We spent $10 here buying a photo of us on the Skyride. This one is worth it, it will go into our photo montage at our Chinese wedding.

(8) Transport (Good)
The monorail was not in operations. =(
But the feeder buses were plenty. And lots of cabs too.
No problem getting around. Hey I'm the "transport minister" of Singapore.

Overall verdict: I will go back again, maybe in another few years time. And I will stay in Costa Sands again! ^_^
