The "Who" button

Some time ago, I helped a cross-departmental colleague of mine come up with a post-mortem analysis report on their past shift performance. He liked the report, but joked that there is something it lacks. Its the "Who" button.

This "Who" button is a button when pressed, that is supposed to come up with the name of the person who is responsible for the poor performance. In short, a button that helps to identify the culprit among all the parties involved.

I laughed and ask why he needs it. He says its always good to know.
Duh.

In life, is it so important to identify who is at fault for blaming?
Isn't it more important to focus on what you(or the person) can do to prevent the thing from happening again?

Watching couples quarrel in drama serial, it appears that they are all trying to push the blame is each other. And then they will go disgusted with one another at the end of it.

What's the point of pinpointing when you don't amicably work on how not to make it happen again?

"How" buttons > "Who" buttons.
Period.

I used to think your way but one day I had another idea.

Ppl in that cross - departmental colleague's department they will always want to !@#$ somebody. If they cannot find the right guy they will !@#$ the wrong guy. If they cannot find the right guy or the wrong guy they will take a piece of furniture and then !@#$ it.

So if you show them the right guy to !@#$ at least they will !@#$ the right guy. That way the culpable person knows he has done wrong, and is in a way accepting. Otherwise they will anyhow look for a scapegoat which is even worse. This will lower morale, allow the real culprit to get away scot free.
