It is my only eye to the world, and a good entertainment on the weird things that happen everywhere.
There was this article about some local guy who was trying to sell a brand X of handbag in his handbag shop. But brand X was obviously unpopular among the female customers, compared with the other brands.
A typical owner will drop the price, but this owner is different. He doubled the price of brand X. The result? Within the next 2 weeks, brand X handbag sold like hotcakes.
So why do woman buy brand X handbag ONLY when the price are more expensive?
*hides for cover*

Why do people think that more expensive things are better?
Someone enlighten me.

Sorry can't help being a geek here.
The guy who came up with the "people buy things because they're expensive" theory is Thorstein Veblen. He also studied at my school before.
So your observation has a lot of academic respectability.
because in some countries (e.g. South Korea) expensive things DO mean that these things are made of a better quality.
in Singapore, where "face" is very important, buying expensive things is no longer a matter of whether it's of good quality or not. It's a matter of whether the next friend/neighbour/relative/auntie-on-the-road i tell will choke and turn green with envy when i tell them the price i paid.
but strangely enough, you wouldnt find this weird "want-face" syndrome in m'sia.
