Happy Birthday, Singapore!

I am a Malaysian by birth.
But I have stayed in Singapore most of my life.

I always consider myself a child of both countries, one my natural parent, the other my adopted parent.

On this day, I shall wish all Singaporeans a Happy National Day.
For a country so small and so vulnerable, it has done extremely well, and has set an extraordinary example for the whole world to see - small means nothing!

Rock on, Singapore!

I am not sure how Singapore is doing at this time. On the one hand, the island republic recorded high GDP growth. On the other hand, inflation is also way too high for the middle-lower class.

Another concern is: Singapore's economy is largely government-driven. I guess a corporate-driven economy is better.

2008 is a year of record inflation to many countries, not just Singapore. I have no preference for government or corporate-driven economy. I guess its fair to say that they both have their pros and cons. As long as the roads are not lined up with beggars, I'm happy enough.
