Turning points

Everyone has their fair share of turning points in their life.

It is normally sparked by certain significant event in your life that resulted in the change.

I have a friend who went to attend Anthony Robbin's seminar. Under this influential motivational speaker and the infamous "Walk over the hot charcoal" part of the seminar, this friend was motivated enough to decide that he can change his life IF he wants to. He proclaimed he will turn vegetarian. His wife didn't believe him, but he did, for the rest of his life. And carried on to be a successful entrepeneur.

I used to fare badly at studies during my younger days. My PSLE was a meagre 218 points, and my secondary school results are average. My teacher had warned that I wasn't going to be able to make it to JC at the rate I'm doing. My turning point came when I had a crush on a fellow female classmate. Her results were good, and she was in the top 10% of the class. I felt "inferior", knowing that I probably won't be able to make it to JC, and will lose the chance to see her then. And one day, I woke up from bed and told myself I will work hard, for her.
That's my turning point. I studied hard, really hard. My grades started improving. And I no longer fail my Maths.
I followed her to the same JC, and my results started to exceed hers. After 5 years of crush, I realised she's actually more of a friend to me than a lover. We left for separate universities and never met again, but I'm glad she helped me found my turning point.

Another big turning point was when i met my mentor, someone who reminded me the importance of getting out of the Rat's Race. And that did mould my concept of working till now. ^_^

I had many other turning points, but let's leave those to a tale for another day.

If you realise you don't have much turning points in your life, here's why.
You have been subsumed into the mediocrity of life.

Don't drive along the straight path of the North-East Highway at a constant speed for a long time.
You will fall asleep.
