Instincts

This is Jack Welch, former CEO of General Electric (GE).

I recently bought a 2nd hand version of his "Winning" book (co-authored with his 3rd wife, Suzy) for an unbelivably cheapskate price of S$3.33, at a bazaar outside Cineleisure. If you look at the picture closely, there is this quote from Warren Buffett that says "No other management book will ever be needed."

Even Uncle Buffett has endorsed this book, so how can handsome Shingo T not take a look?

Jack Welch is very well-known for his business instinct, as well as for turning GE around by using the six-sigma methods. I have not really read the whole book, but it is divided into many small chapters, making it a very good book for random flipping cum chapter-jumping.

There is a chapter on the book regarding instincts. And here's a line that sets me thinking for some time.

Trust your instincts when it comes to business decisions.
But do not trust your instincts when it comes to judging people.

A very wise statement.
